The Opel Diplomat was Opel's flagship between 1964 and 1977. It was the most luxury version of the "big three" or so called "KAD" (Kapitän, Admiral, Diplomat) range.
The Opel Diplomat A was built between 1964 and 1968. The Opel Diplomat B was built between 1969 and 1977. In 1978 the KAD range was succeeded by the Opel Senator.
The Diplomat B with V8 engine was the technical base for the Bitter CD. When the model was discontinued Erich Bitter also had to think about a successor for the Bitter CD.
